Can You Hear My Sigh of Relief?
by Lynn Daniels on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 7:24 am
Thanks, everybody, for all the hugs and sympathy for my crap day. Good news…yesterday was eons better. No comparison.
Except that my kids were trapped in the house all day. Their punishment. And apparently, it became my punishment, too. When my son is trapped indoors, he ends up with a severe case of cabin fever, which leads to a non-contageous disease known as Motor Mouth. I don’t think he stopped talking for more than thirty seconds at any given time yesterday. And we won’t even discuss all the bickering that went on between the kids. It was exhausting.

Scraping, Grinding, and Killing the Catcher

Man, yesterday just sucked. And I mean really sucked. S-U-C-K-E-D. It started out okay. I got out of bed. Didn’t trip and fall. Didn’t stub my toe. Didn’t slam into the wall. I should probably mention that those things used to happen to me regularly. Daily. To the point that when my husband worked in the clubs and I worked a nine-to-five, he’d wake up early every morning just to watch me stumble out of bed and miss the bathroom door, slamming into the wall. Every morning. So believe me when I say the absence of those events is always a good sign.
Lots of Balls in the Air

I’m glad everybody enjoyed the song lyric game yesterday as much as I did. In case you’re wondering, the first song was “Damn” written by Dennis Matkosky/Ty Lacy/Holly Lamar, originally performed by Leann Rimes and covered by From the Inside featuring Danny Vaughn (the version I love).
Wow. That’s Not What I Heard.

Like Ferrets on Speed They Run…

I can finally post…WHEW! Of course, the only reason I can post is I’m at the studio. When we left the house I still didn’t have reliable internet access. Kinda sucks. I still have 22 unsent e-mails sitting on my laptop because I lost access before they were sent. Such is my life.
We had to stop at Wal-Mart on the way down here to pick up shoes for my Tasmanian Devil (IOW, my son). By the time we got into the store, he needed new socks, too. You know, that kid has hand brakes and pedal brakes on his bike…why on earth does he feel the need to use toe brakes to stop? He’d literally worn both shoes straight through the toes, so his socks were soaking wet from the rain.
Then again, built in air conditioning, right?

Haircuts and Sandwiches

Busy night last night, big day ahead.
First, last night, I found another plugin for WordPress. Played with that a little while, then got it installed properly. If you look down my right sidebar, underneath my “current read” you’ll see a new section. “In My Headphones”. This one’ll tell you the last six songs I listened to in Windows Media Player. Pretty cool, huh?

At This Moment

This post is going to wander a bit, so please bear with me.
Anybody else see “Hit Me Baby One More Time” last night? I don’t know about you, but my jaw is still on the floor after Billy Vera’s performance of “At This Moment.” Talk about being blown away. Matter of fact, at this point I’m of the opinion that his was the best original song performance I’ve seen on that show yet.
The Time Warp and Booty Kicking

Worked out this morning. My workout buddy couldn’t make it, so I had to go all by my lonesome. I’m proud of myself for going
…I almost didn’t.
I’ve been forced — dragged kicking and screaming — into admitting something almost painful about myself. I’m an unmotivated slug when it comes to exercise. Yup, you read right. Unmotivated. Slug. Me.
