Virginity Lost, Lessons Learned

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 9:56 am

Yesterday was not a writing day for me. I didn’t get anything done on my own WIP. But after taking care of my errands slated for yesterday, I did work on writing stuff. I spent a good bit of time over at Romance Divas judging a chunk of the 91 entries submitted for the WE ALL WIN Best Opening Hook contest (Divas submitted the first 15 lines or 150 words of their manuscripts). And feeling that little flutter of fear in the pit of my stomach every time I saw another Diva had judged one of my entries.

Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post, when I first started reading the submissions, my stomach literally bottomed out.

Over 30 and Pleased as Punch

by Lynn Daniels on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 12:03 pm

Let me begin by sending out thoughts and prayers to everybody dealing with Katrina or her aftermath.

We’re getting spotty storms here today, and had at least three tornado warnings last night. Yup, we got lucky. But after experiencing Hurricane Andrew in ‘92, I know what you folks in Katrina’s path are going through. I’m sending good jujus your way.

Yesterday was a really funky day for me. I got very little done during the day, probably due to laziness and procrastination. Yes, I’ll admit it. I’m not proud of it, but I’ll admit it. Maybe it was due to my sickened anticipation of the Romance Divas WE ALL WIN Best Opening Hook contest entries being posted yesterday. Since I had stuff entered, I felt pretty ill most of the day.

Don’t Ya Hate it When…

by Lynn Daniels on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 8:53 am

…you find one bug crawling up your arm, you get rid of it, yet for the rest of the day you can’t get rid of the feeling your body’s been overrun by bugs?

…you finally get time to yourself to write, and the phone won’t stop ringing?

…you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, yet the person in front of you on the road obviously doesn’t have to be anywhere until next Tuesday?

The Messed Up Tunes Return

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 12:53 pm

Been a farily productive weekend. Despite a myriad of distractions, the least of which not being a giant attack grasshopper, I’m happy to say I’ve made progress with BMO. And today, in between DVD flicks, I’ll keep going. Although, somewhere along the way I probably should do some laundry.

Anyway, I thought I’d bring back our Sunday Messed Up Tunes. And in case you’ve forgotten, here are the rules again:

ACK!

I was just out on my front porch, minding my own business. Sitting there, taking a break from writing, and wondering why I was so easily distracted today. Suddenly, from nowhere jumped a giant grasshopper. He landed on my right shoulder and stared at me with his beady little eyes.

If he could talk, I swear he would have been saying, “Yum. Grasshopper food.”

I never realized I could jump so high.

Blah Blah Blah…

Not much to talk about today. Got all my errands finished yesterday, but didn’t get any writing in. We didn’t get home until after 8:30 last night, and the kids still needed to be fed and bathed, so my night was pretty shot. SoundGuy is off work today, and that usually kills Fridays for writing, but he claims to have errands to run so I might just get some time, after all.

Ordered new contact lenses yesterday. My eyes are naturally dark brown, but they’ve been blue for the past couple months. After next week, they’ll be gray. I’m loving the idea of changing my eye color!
