I Can’t Believe…

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 1:56 pm

The past couple of days have been of the I Can’t Believe-type variety. As I lay in bed night before last, a new opening for SR popped into my head. I rolled it over a few times and played with the verbiage, all the while praying I’d remember it when morning came. On any other night, I would’ve hopped out of bed and typed it up right quick, but I was so bone-tired that night, there would be no hopping. Not without serious consequences, anyway. As luck would have it, I did remember, and got it typed up yesterday.

The lovely thing about it — I think — is that I was able to work some early symbolism in. It also incorporates in a big way one of the ideas I’d had for major story changes. AND … it’s not as “bang you over the head with the iron skillet of backstory” as I think the original opening was.

Sometimes it’s the Little Things

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 10:31 pm

The holidays are upon us; Christmas is approaching at warp speed. Once upon a time, I loved this time of year. It was magical. The anticipation, the lights, the music — all of it filled me with joy.

Not so much anymore.

I can’t say for sure what happened or when things changed. Might have been a few years back when things were particularly lean. But the when and the how don’t matter much, the end result is the same. The holidays bring on a bit of melancholy for me. It freaks SoundGuy out, so I tend to try to hide things. Not that I think he wouldn’t be supportive, but heck, he’s already got so much to worry about. Why add to the pile?

Look, Ma, No Cavities!

by Lynn Daniels on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 9:27 pm

It’s been a good news/bad news few days around here. Sunday was my wedding anniversary :thanks:– SoundGuy and I celebrated 11 years of marriage in our traditional way: got a sitter for the kids and enjoyed a nice dinner out followed by the new Harry Potter flick. I also made out like a bandit gift-wise — I’m now the proud owner of a gorgeous diamond necklace.

That was the good part.

Wowza.

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2:44 pm

Just finished watching my new Journey DVD, and it was everything I’d hoped for. I sang along, I danced, my kids think I’m nuts — but that’s nothing new. :bag: I teared up during “Mother, Father” and had to watch that performance twice. Might go and watch it again in just a few minutes. Had the sound system cranked, and when “Don’t Stop Believin’” started playing, MiniMe came flying down the stairs.

“I heard this song on TV!” she yelled.

My Own Personal Time Machine

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 2:39 pm

I just picked up a new DVD that has me so excited, I just have to share. I haven’t watched it yet; it’s one I’ll have to actually prepare for because I know it’s going to bring old memories and feelings flooding back. And I must warn you, a bit of my geek-ness is probably going to spill out here.

What Do You Think?

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 6:00 pm

I’ve got this shot (another one) from the shore of Yellowstone Lake that just hits me the right way. Love it in color, but I thought I’d play around with it a bit, and I changed it over to black & white. Now I’m torn, so I’ll ask your opinions. Which would better to fill that empty spot on my bedroom wall:

Yes, I know I’ve fallen a bit behind with the Daily Shots — my apologies. Life, and to no lesser amount — my kids, have managed to really get in the way.

This is another shot from Yellowstone National Park during one of my more artsy moments. They do sneak up on me every now and again. It’s a stick. On the shore of Yellowstone Lake. I like it.

Need a Laugh?

by Lynn Daniels on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 5:58 pm

Nothing interesting to report, so I thought I’d give you a good laugh. Here are some funny, yet real, packaging labels from the September 2005 Women in Motion newsletter from Curves. How scary is it that these things are actually printed on the packaging?
