Updates!

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 6:56 pm

Yes, folks, I’ve been messing with the blog again. One of the dangers of being home alone with the kids on New Year’s Eve, I suppose.

Pathetic? Moi? :bag:

First, I made a change to the way links are displayed. Unvisited links are now in a darker color, visited links are in the original color. Bit of a jolt (no pun intended!) for me, but much easier on old eyes like mine. Let me know if the darker color’s too annoying … I’ll be glad to switch it back depending on the majority vote.

She’s Done it Again

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 2:49 pm

I just finished Sherrilyn Kenyon’s new addition to the Dark Hunter series, Unleash the Night. Another name has been added to my “Fictional Characters to Lust After” list.

Wren Tigarian.

Yum.

Just thought I’d share.

The More You Know…

LittleDude: Momma?
Me: Yeah?
LittleDude: Remember Christmas, when I got to open all my presents?
Me: Yeah…
LittleDude: That was cool.

I hope everybody had as wonderful a Christmas as I did! The kids did manage to make it — barely — until SoundGuy came home from work. They found lots of goodies in their stockings to keep them occupied, and we had the traditional viewing of “A Christmas Story” — my all-time favorite Christmas movie. I can honestly say it was a really happy day for my entire family, and will remain a good memory for me.

Christmas = Backaches and Maniacal Laughter

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at 3:08 pm

Christmas Eve.

In the past, it meant me waiting for my family to coming back from out of state with my stepdaughter in tow. It also meant the end of a solitary (relatively speaking) two-day shopping and wrapping marathon which culminated in frazzled nerves and an aching back.

Not this year.

Is That Your Final Answer?

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 1:27 pm

I’ve been working on that synopsis template for IH, and I’m almost finished (save some answer tightening … WOO HOO! ). There’s one answer that is still giving me problems, though; it’s one that relates to the secondary characters.

Finally, A Writing Post!

by Lynn Daniels on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 2:20 am

Since my last post (good-naturedly) damned somebody, I feel like I should go the opposite direction with this post and thank somebody. It’s the least I can do, right?

So tonight, I’m publicly thanking Tess for our phone conversation the other day. Not only did she give me a good idea for SR that helped bust a mini-wall I’d slammed into (even made progress — notice the new progress meter in the left sidebar!), but some of her comments also gave me the push I needed to revisit the annoying and elusive synopsis for IH. Last night I pulled out my partially completed templates from Mary Buckham’s synopsis workshop and re-immersed myself waist-deep in the madness.

Guilty Guilty Guilty

by Lynn Daniels on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 5:13 pm

Damn you, Sherrilyn Kenyon!

I’ve been reading her story Knightly Dreams from the anthology What Dreams May Come, and now I’m saddled with this horrible feeling of guilt. Esther, the repository for romance novels, is explaining to Taryn, the heroine, about the origins of stories. About the Valley of Lost Souls. About how when a writer doesn’t finish a story, the characters rattle around, repeatedly reliving the portion of the story written until the story is either finished by the writer, sent to another writer to finish, or the characters go mad.
