Last night we ordered our new bedroom furniture, and just a couple of hours ago we ordered new furniture for LittleDude. We’ll be waiting on deliveries both tomorrow and Saturday. Good thing we’ve still got stuff to do in the house — SoundGuy wants us to spend our first night in the new house Saturday night. We’ll see if that actually happens.

Rooms are painted, two bedrooms are furnished. The move of telephone service, DSL, and DirecTV has been arranged. Today I’ll stay at the old house and pack up the kitchen (we’re not using it, anyway), tonight we buy furniture for the other two bedrooms.
Today’s post is short, since there’s nothing really interesting to report. At least I got some sleep last night. But I wanted to leave you with something that came through my inbox yesterday.
After the Smart Bitches posted the Brokeback Mountain on Ice link back on February 24 (I still say John Zimmerman lights my fire), I thought I’d share another one. Stripping on Ice to Tom Jones!
Have a great day, y’all!

Most people christen a boat with a bottle of champagne across the bow. In my family, houses are christened with my body across a ladder.
We’re getting closer and closer to furniture moving time. All of the second floor at the new house is painted now. Well, except for the bathrooms, and we won’t be painting those for a while. SoundGuy will be working on the family room and kitchen today, and we’ll be moving the furniture we have stored in the garage up to the bedrooms.
My job yesterday was to clean the molding I couldn’t reach before (crown molding, tops of door and window frames). I got about 3/4 of the way around the first floor before missing a step when coming down the ladder. So I fell off and now the house is christened.
Packing and Cleaning and Cleaning and Packing

You all had yesterday’s Messed Up Tune right — “When Doves Cry” by Prince. He was still Prince back then, wasn’t he? Congrats to all of you who surprised yourselves by recognizing the song. And if you thought it was too easy…you have to agree, the translation was hilarious, wasn’t it?
I hope everybody had a wonderful weekend! Ours was busy — no big surprise there. Over the past two days, if we weren’t at the new house, we were at soccer games. MiniMe had two this weekend, and both involved a 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive.
I’d originally typed out a long post venting my anger about the officiating at this weekend’s games, but changed my mind. This isn’t the forum for that, and I’m sure y’all don’t want to hear me rant. But you can bet I’ll be firing off an e-mail or two expressing my displeasure about the blatant bias I witnessed from the field referee this weekend.

When I said busy days ahead, I wasn’t kidding! We’ve gone into overdrive with the house…matter of fact, when I finish posting this, I’ll go back to packing. Then after MiniMe’s soccer game this afternoon (the second one this weekend), the kids and I will be meeting SoundGuy over at the house for more painting and cleaning, probably running late into the night.
So, while I’m doing all that, y’all enjoy this Messed Up Tune!

Bet you’re wondering about that post title, aren’t you?
I haven’t done a search term post in a long while, and since I’m sure you want more than just daily updates of what’s going on with the move, I thought I’d do one today. Maybe it’s a little bit of a cop-out, but I’m short on time (heading to the new house to start cleaning) and at a loss for a post topic that doesn’t include carpet cleaning chemicals or painting.
So, here ya go. Some of the searches that led to this blog. People run internet searches for the strangest things…

I just got back from the dentist — this one was an easy appointment. But the next two are going to be tough. Especially the one I have in a week and a half — my first round of gum flap surgery. The dental assistant kept assuring me it sounded worse than it was. Almost had me fooled, but then she made the mistake of showing me the animation of the procedure. Um, can you say scary, boys and girls? I’ll be shaking in my boots that day.
I just have to keep reminding myself that it’s almost all done. And that my mouth’ll be happier when it’s done. If I lose sight of that, I’ll end up running down the street, screaming with my hands in the air.

Did somebody say busy? Add frustrating (traffic) and exhausting (long day) to the list, and you have my day yesterday.
You know, I lived in Broward County, Florida and worked in Palm Beach County, Florida for years, and I thought rush hour traffic there was really bad. Thought they had the market cornered on self-important idiots who are oblivious to the cars around them — if they want in your lane, they’re coming over and you’d better get out of the way!
