Eat Your Fingers Off

My thoughts are a bit disjointed right now, so this post probably will be, too. Consider yourself warned.
I’ve been all over the board today writing-wise. Worked on those edits for BMO. Worked on a website for a friend (yes, that’s writing-related since she’s a fellow author). Worked on a crit. Worked on my own website.
Notice any repeating words in there? Yes, I WORKED!
As far as I’m concerned, that makes it a good writing day.
CDs in the truck have changed, so I changed the music clips in the sidebar. I don’t know if anybody who visits actually listens to those clips, but I’ll admit I do sometimes. I can’t explain why, since I do have the full songs on my computer. But I do it.
According to National Geographic Traveler magazine:
KFC’s familiar slogan “Finger Lickin’ Good” was originally translated into Chinese as “Eat Your Fingers Off.”
Cracks me up.
Ran into one of my old neighbors this evening when I went to pick MiniMe up from soccer practice. Turns out they’re preparing to move, and they’ll be closer to us! I really like this guy and his family — matter of fact, I’ve been out drinking with his wife a time or two. Got the lowdown on their new place, and some new gossip from the old neighborhood.
Drama, drama, drama.
Had my first parent-teacher conference for the year with LittleDude’s teacher this morning. I was pretty apprehensive, but it all turned out well. Turns out I was spot on with the things I thought he needed work with, and he’s doing even better than I thought in other things. I was so happy, I came home and e-mailed his teacher from last school year, who’d offered her help if he needed it this year.
He doesn’t need her help, and I think she had a lot to do with that. I thanked her profusely.
Also according to National Geographic Traveler magazine:
The residents of Salt Lake City consume more lime-flavored gelatin than those of any other city in the United States.
Hm. My first thought was Now I know why I don’t live in Salt Lake City. My second thought? There’s gotta be a story in that.
Ever have one of those moments where something happens that makes you feel totally teenage girly and you can’t stop grinning? I had two of those moments this afternoon. Totally made my day.
Yesterday, I was sitting inside working on my edits when a high-pitched screech sent me running for the door. I was sure LittleDude, who was playing outside, had just lost an appendage or something equally horrifying.
When I got outside, I found him sitting in the driveway on the other side of my truck, near tears. He was furious. With his shoe. Turns out it wouldn’t tie tight enough.
Of course, it was all the shoe’s fault.
*sigh*
Have a wonderful weekend!

If those moments are the girly moments I think they are… enjoy the feeling. I know you will! I would.
Happy to here Little Dude is doing so much better in school this year.
How’s the story coming along? When will I get to buy it?
Tempest – You know I love you.
You’ve just got a way of making me feel good about myself.
Since you asked, edits are underway on BMO, and I’m about to start my final pass on IH.
Tess – They are and I did. I still am. And I’ll continue to.
Good to hear you’re getting so much work done
Teresa – Thanks!
