I’ve Seen Glaciers Move Faster

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 5:45 am

Last night, SoundGuy and I watched the movie Invincible, based on the story of Philidelphia Eagles’ Vince Papale. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you do. Even if you’re not into football flicks. The story’s heartwarming, the acting’s great, and the soundtrack’s outstanding.

Seriously — it’s a Disney movie that opens with a Jim Croce tune. Need I say more? :bag: (Can ya tell I love Jim Croce?)

It’s a Record!

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at 10:03 am

Here it is, Christmas Eve, and my shopping’s been done for TWO WHOLE DAYS! It may not sound like a big deal to you, but for me, it’s a record. Is your shopping done? Are you ready for tomorrow?

Just in case you need something to take your mind off all the prep work this particular holiday requires, I give you this week’s Messed Up Tune.

Bustin’ Out

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:33 pm

Looks like you all knew the Messed Up Tune! It was indeed “Life is a Highway”. That’ll teach me to work up a Messed Up Tune while watching a Disney/Pixar flick.

Good grief…is it Christmas yet? I busted my butt today to try and get all the gifts wrapped before the kids got home from school — their last day before Winter Break. Now I’ve got a busted butt and unwrapped gifts. I did make progress, but not enough progress. I’m waiting for the kids to go to sleep so I can try and get that finished up tonight.

Silly Songs and Speed Bumps

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 10:35 pm

I ran into a speed bump with my holiday prep — LittleDude came down with Strep. *sigh* Luckily, he’s going back to school tomorrow and I’ll finally be able to finish my shopping. Good thing, too, the kids’ Winter Break starts Thursday, and my goal is to have everything done by then. Especially since for the first time, SoundGuy isn’t going to NC to pick up the stepkid.

In past years, he would go do that, take the kids with him, and I got that 24 hours to shop and wrap gifts. Talk about a pain in the back!

I’m Middle-Brained!

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 10:00 pm

Is everybody else slammed too, or is it just me? :faint: At least my shopping’s nearly done — early for me, believe it or not. Yes, sad, but true.

The good news is I haven’t injured myself in two weeks. Oh, wait. Scratch that. Last week, I tripped coming up the single step from my garage to my kitchen. Scraped my forearm on the door frame.

Ah, well. Injury-free woulda been nice.

The kids have kept me busy. MiniMe’s soccer team had a float in our county Christmas parade last week, and the girls all had a blast. LittleDude and I had a ball watching the parade from the sidewalk of our city’s historic downtown district. You know, once upon a time, I found parades boring if they didn’t hurl stuff at ya from the floats (a la Mardi Gras in New Orleans). Not this time. I guess seeing your own kid in the parade makes a difference.

I’ve managed to sneak in a little editing time, but not much. Nowhere near as much time as I’d like. My fingers are crossed that once the holiday passes and the kids are back in school I’ll find more time.

In the meantime, here’s a quiz for you. Hope you’re having a great week!

You Are 50% Left Brained, 50% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you’re left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you’re right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Are You Right or Left Brained?

This week’s Messed Up Tune was “Cuts Like a Knife” by Bryan Adams.

Cross Like a Measurer

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 3:10 am

Christmas shopping still isn’t done, but at least the tree’s up and decorated. I think this is the earliest our tree’s ever been up — we’re usually last minute people.

Speaking of Christmas, I have to ask. Is everybody going through this cold snap? I’d find it hard to believe it’s just us Georgia folks freezing our hineys off. I’m not sure what the temperature was when I woke up this morning. All I know is it wasn’t conducive to me actually getting out of the bed. My flannel sheets and down blanket and comfortor were mucho snuggly this morning.
