Cheap Babysitting

I saw this recently at Boortz.com and I had to share:

I’m still laughing!
Reminds me of SoundGuy’s continuous yearnings for magnet suits for the kids paired with a metal wall for our house.
Seriously, even if you don’t agree with Boortz’s politics, stop by his website when you get a chance and check out his Redneck Scrapbook for hours of entertainment.
Tagged!
by Lynn Daniels on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 10:43 am
The lovely and talented Angelle took the time to tag me earlier this month.
The rules:
- Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
- People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
- At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
- Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
Eight random facts/habits about me:
- I haven’t worn a dress since August, 2002.
- With each passing year, I become more and more interested in history — particularly American and Native American.
- Yesterday, I wrote my first ever letter to my Congressman.
- I avoid talking on the phone. Maybe it comes from all those years in administrative work.
- After watching the most recent episode of The Sopranos, I hopped on the internet and googled lincoln log sandwiches. (So far, the most believable recipe I’ve seen is two hot dogs split down middle filled with cream cheese on toasted white bread from Planck’s Constant.)
- I really really really want to move out west where it’s not so overpopulated. (Yes, SoundGuy knows.)
- When my nail polish starts to chip, I have a bad habit of trying to peel it all off. I challenge myself to try and get as much off as I can in 1 sheet.
- I don’t like to wear my hair up, because when I drive, the clip/barrette in my hair tends to hit the headrest while I’m driving and hurts my head.
I’m going to break rule #3. Because it’s been more than two weeks since I was tagged, I won’t be a johnny-come-lately and tag somebody else in particular. But consider yourself tagged, if you want to participate.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Wildfires Made Me Do it

Has anybody else had problems with motivation recently?
Not only have I barely been willing to read my own work, up until a couple weeks ago, I could hardly bear to read others’ works.
Since my children have been asking to go to our public library, I’ve actually started reading again. I’ve still got boxes of unread books sitting around the house, but I have managed to read the first three books in Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone series. It’s taking time, but I’m finally starting to recapture my love for books.

Throw it Away

Well, so much for my coming back to post on Sunday. In my defense, we weren’t home. Our Saturday day trip turned to a weekend trip, with a visit to SoundGuy’s parents. Nothing particularly ground-breaking to report from the trip, so I’ll just leave it there.
We’re now on day 2 of my kids’ last week of school. LittleDude is looking forward to sleeping more, and MiniMe is griping over her first year of final exams. Me? I’m wincing at yet another indication of my advancing age. But this one’s not as bad as the one I got last week.
Yikes!

I hadn’t realized how long it’d been since I last posted! I mean, I knew it’d been a while, but not this long. Part of me wants to apologize — I feel as though I’ve been shirking my duties. However, there’d another part, possibly the part where rationality resides, that’s proud. Not that I haven’t blogged; there’s definitely no pride in that realization. But I am proud of the fact that I’ve been so busy — or occupied (depending on your definition) — that I haven’t had the time to get online.
