Five for Friday #1
by Lynn Daniels on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 7:57 am
I’ve been seeing the Thursday Thirteens popping up on blogs everywhere, and even a few Tuesday Tens. I’ve been dying to join in, but I don’t always have time to do much blog-hopping, and that kind of defeats all the fun of it. Still, I thought I’d do a little list anyway, and five seemed like a nice smaller number. Plus it has the bonus of alliteration with the word Friday. So here we have it, my

Don’t They Have Any of Their Own?

The other night, I was helping SoundGuy update his resume.
Okay, I’m being kind. I wasn’t updating anything. I was trying to pull the damned thing together. From notes he’d scribbled down on scrap paper while at work.
The Aftermath
by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 8:30 am
Let’s review my past few days.
I submitted IH Friday and promptly wanted to hurl. Saturday and Sunday, MiniMe had a soccer tournament about a 45 minute drive away. Two games Saturday — they tied the first game, won the second. They had a third game on Sunday, but MiniMe woke up and promptly vomited (sympathy nausea?), so we stayed home.
She’s better now, by the way.
Change is Good

Especially in this case.
Yes, the blog layout is slightly different. Call it tweaked. Call it improved. Call it whatever you want, but I’m finally calling it finished. At least for the next few days or so … not so sure I like how the date is displayed on this layout.
We’ll see. It might just need to grow on me.
As for the rest of the layout, I’ve finally brought it as close as I think I’m going to get to what I’d originally envisioned as the mate to my new and improved website.
Yes, I’m proud of myself.
I know we just went through this, but please indulge me. If you run across any problems, please let me know. After this, I’ll leave y’all alone. I promise.
And now, much as I hate to do it, I’ve got house cleaning to take care of. We’ve got company coming today, and I can’t stand being embarrassed.

From The Official Rob Ashton Website:
It is with a very heavy heart that I must let everyone know that my dear friend Rob Ashton died August 26, 2007, from complications due to an extended illness. I know he will be sorely missed by so many.

New Look!
by Lynn Daniels on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 7:52 pm
To celebrate (1) popping my submission cherry (to be crass); and (2) my kids finally going back to school, I’ve updated my website with a whole new look. I’m also trying out a matching layout for the blog. I’ve tested both as extensively as I could in Firefox and IE without going live, but I’ve done all I can do. So now I’m asking for your help.
Take a look at both. Are you running into problems? Something not loading properly? Anything hard to read? Misspelled? Let me know! I’m open to feedback.
Urg

It happened a bit later than I’d originally intended, but late last night, I finally managed to submit IH.
You know how you usually have to experience something in order to really understand it? I finally understand that sick-to-the-stomach feeling many writers talk about after they’ve submitted.
After a full night’s sleep, I still feel like hurling all over the place.
Any advice?
Finally

Open House today.
First day of school tomorrow.
Thank God.
So the Saying Goes

IH didn’t get submitted yesterday. I’m hoping to get it sent today. I’ll take the blame for the delay, but it really wasn’t all my fault. Some of it, I blame on our mailman.
Well, technically, mailperson.
If she hadn’t left two particular letters in my mailbox, I wouldn’t have been totally wigged and sick to my stomach all day. And if I hadn’t been wigged and sick, I’d have been able to finish that read-thru, assemble my submission package, and get it sent. Woulda, shoulda, coulda … fact is I was wigged and sick, and couldn’t make heads or tails of anything.
