Five for Friday #3

Five for Friday

5 foods I’d bust my diet to eat:

  1. Birthday Cake — I’ve actually been to children’s parties where parents who were offered a slice of cake turned it down. They’re stronger than I am; I can’t resist a yummy piece of birthday cake. Of course these days, since I do have my weight to worry about, my slices are much smaller. But I still eat them.
  2. Chocolate — Does this one really need explanation? The ultimate comfort food.
  3. Tiramisu — My orgasm on a plate. ‘Nuff said.
  4. Kahlua & Milk — Okay, so it’s not really a food :friday: , but still really really yummy and totally worth a busted diet.
  5. Rib Eye Steak — It’s pretty high on the Weight Watchers points scale, but for me, totally irresistible. I’ve seen people in steakhouses order other things off the menu, but not me. If I’m in a steakhouse, I want a steak, dammit! Must just be the carnivore in me. In my defense, I’m usually willing to replace the baked potato that is often served with steaks with steamed veggies.

And the honorable mention goes to:

I actually couldn’t limit this one to just five items, because there is one more food I find myself looking forward to. Banana Pudding. You know the kind with the Nilla Wafers? YUM! It’s become a tradition for me. If we eat at Golden Corral, I must top my meal off with their Banana Pudding.

ADDENDUM:

I was going to leave it there, but I’ve found I have to add just one more thing. Tacos. And not the Taco Bell ones. The ones where I brown and spice the ground beef, shred the lettuce, chop the tomatoes, and open the Kraft Mexican blend cheese and dump it into a bowl. Man, I made tacos for dinner last night, and both SoundGuy and I are payin’ for it today. They were GOOD, but I ate waaaaay too many.

What about you? What foods do you bust your diet for?

I get the best ground turkey at Trader Joe’s for my tacos so they are lower in the guilt department (it actually browns! So yummy!)

But for me–ice cream does it every time! I’m an ice cream fiend :)

    Definitely ice cream. And chocolate.

I actually can’t eat Taco Bell’s “food.” Just the thought of it makes me sick to my stomach. Like you I’d much rather brown and season my own meat.

    Tiramisu.
    :faint:
I’m totally in lust with http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/ (her non-cooking blog is awesome as well)
and several months ago she taught me how to make Tiramisu.

My stomach want to kiss her, and my hips want to kill her. :friday:

I’m one of those folks who can pass on the B-Day cake. But give me cheesecake and I can do some damage. (I had some tonight as a matter of fact :cheer: ) Pizza and anything Italian go on my list also.

But I’m with you. What’s the point of going to steakhouse and not ordering steak??

Tess — WHEW! So glad I’m not the only one for steakhouse steak. I mean, seein’ how beef ain’t so much in vogue these days.

I’m with you on the pizza thing. YUM! Cheesecake, I love, but I can actually pass that up on occasion.

Thanks, Ember! The Pioneer Woman Who Cooks is now bookmarked, and it’s ALL YOUR FAULT!

But seriously, who knew Tiramisu had Marsala wine in it? Have you made it?

Heather — I’ll gorge on Taco Bell in a pinch. Not the best of food, we get better Mexican from the little place down the street, but there’s something oddly comforting about it for me.

Amelia – I go through phases with ice cream. Sometimes I absolutely must have it nightly, other times it sits in my freezer for way to long. But when I’m on a binge, Rocky Road all the way, baby!

I tried ground turkey on my family once. They weren’t pleased. But if I could find some that actually browned…

 I wouldn’t mind a good ribeye steak tonight.

:woohoo: I’ve enjoyed Sue Grafton, but man alive does she have a lot of books now.

Oh I know most ground turkey is just not for eating–it is all white and weirdly flavored. I think the Trader Joes stuff is some kind of miracle turkey, lol. But yeah, I’ve put it in tacos, chili, empenadas and burritos with no real difference in taste.

    Penzey’s taco seasoning helps, too.

Amelia June — Hm. Trader Joes. *making note* I’ll have to keep my eye open for the stuff. Is this something I can find anywhere or do I need to go to a special place for it?

  12. Lynn Daniels on September 21st, 2007 2:14 pm

Annalee — As far as I’m concerned, any night is a good night for a ribeye. YUM!

A lot of books doesn’t even begin to describe Sue Grafton’s works!
