Meet Lynn

This is the part where I'm supposed to talk about myself. Somehow, it's an easier thing to do face-to-face. But I'll give it a shot.

I write (mostly) contemporary romantic comedy and romantic women's fiction. I say mostly because if I have to, I'll write whatever strikes me just to get it to leave me alone.

Anyway, I'm a mom of the stay-at-home variety. Lucky for me, both my kids are finally in school. I would have danced naked in the street the day my youngest left for his first day of school if I hadn't thought it would scare the neighbors.

When I'm alone during the day, I utilize as much time as I dare for writing. Much to my husband's dismay, that often means the housework takes second banana.

Sometimes I feel like I've been writing forever. My first book was a collaboration with a classmate way back in second grade. We called it The Most Unusual Witch, and our poor hapless main character was forced to use cooked spaghetti as a wand.

I wonder what happened to that masterpiece.

When I hit high school, I put the writing aside for things that seemed more important at the time, and didn't pick it up until after my youngest child was born. And that sounds a bit tame compared to what actually happened.

One day, as I sat home alone with my six-month-old son, that nasty writing bug forced his way in and attacked. With a sneer on its little buggy face, it whacked me upside the head and said, "Join me if you want to keep your sanity. That kid's cute and all, but he ain't much of a conversationalist."

I had to agree.

So I started the process of writing my first novel. Finished the first draft and had the brilliant idea to check the Internet. Maybe there would be stuff about writing there.

HA! Was there ever!

I joined a couple of online communities, signed on to a few mailing lists, and soon discovered there was much I didn't know about the craft I'd chosen. Back to that manuscript I went, and slash, slash, slash went my proverbial red pen. Learn I did. And learn I'm still doing.

I also absorb what I can from other's work. In other words, I'm a voracious reader. I'll happily wile away the hours reading the latest from Sherrilyn Kenyon, Karen Marie Moning, Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Crusie, and many, many more.

I'm a proud member of Romance Writers of America (RWA), Georgia Romance Writers (GRW), and RWA Online.
