Is That a Moose in the Road?

by Lynn Daniels on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 10:21 am

I got to talk to my father last weekend. He lives overseas, and we don’t talk as often as we should. Probably has something to do with the fact that we’re cut from the same cloth and both equally stubborn.

Anyway, he called to see how we’re doing in the aftermath of the accident. At some point in the conversation, he became horrified to learn I had never watched Northern Exposure. I had to explain that, heck, I didn’t even start watching Everybody Loves Raymond until the show was syndicated. That didn’t seem to sway him.

Guess what arrived on my doorstep yesterday. The full series DVD set of Northern Exposure. Of course, I had to start watching immediately. What fun! I’m almost through season 1.

Is it Just Me?

by Lynn Daniels on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 5:20 pm

Over the weekend, I enjoyed a marathon of a television show I’m pretty fond of. During every break between episodes, the announcer said something that absolutely drove me up the wall — probably because in writing, I’m so used to watching for multiple uses of the same word.

This presentation of {insert show title here} presented by…

It’s not as though I’m the grammar police or anything. Goodness knows I’ve committed a grammar faux pas or 1400 here on the blog and elsewhere in my writing. And we won’t even bring up the way I talk. But still. Presentation presented by?

It just begs to be played with, doesn’t it?

How about dramatization dramatized by?

Publication published by?

Creation created by?

Illumination illuminated by?

Eat Your Fingers Off

by Lynn Daniels on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 11:32 pm

My thoughts are a bit disjointed right now, so this post probably will be, too. Consider yourself warned.

I’ve been all over the board today writing-wise. Worked on those edits for BMO. Worked on a website for a friend (yes, that’s writing-related since she’s a fellow author). Worked on a crit. Worked on my own website.

Wayward Wednesday

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 7:16 am

Since my life seems to have no structure lately, why should today’s blog post? Therefore, I hereby dub this day Wayward Wednesday with an entry that follows no rhyme or reason. Items have been added as I’ve thought of them. Don’t try to make sense out of the order. It’ll only make your head hurt.

Wandering, Pointless, and Hard-to-Follow

Chasing sunshine and tornadoes in my elusive mind

– Night Ranger / “My Elusive Mind”

* * * * *

Looks like I started to get back into exclamation point titles over the past couple days. Must learn to curb that.

Today’s post will be a general hodgepodge (love that word!) of stuff. Just whatever strikes my fancy. I haven’t had a real wandering, pointless, hard-to-follow post in a while, at least not on purpose.

Don’t Ya Hate it When…

by Lynn Daniels on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 8:53 am

…you find one bug crawling up your arm, you get rid of it, yet for the rest of the day you can’t get rid of the feeling your body’s been overrun by bugs?

…you finally get time to yourself to write, and the phone won’t stop ringing?

…you’re in a hurry to get somewhere, yet the person in front of you on the road obviously doesn’t have to be anywhere until next Tuesday?

Which “O” is That?

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 10:35 pm

Yes, I know I’ve already posted twice today, but this one just hit me.

Am I the only one who sees that Overstock.com commercial, hears the tagline, and misinterprets the meaning EVERY FREAKING TIME?

It’s all about the O.

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose mind has apparently taken up permanent residence in the gutter.

I Should Be Spanked

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 7:52 am

I was a baaaaad girl yesterday. (No, Yankeebob, this isn’t my “Freak” post  ). Woke up, and my workout buddy called to let me know she wouldn’t be able to workout with me. “But,” she said, “since you’re up, you can go!” I hung up, thought about it, rolled over, and went back to sleep. I’d been up writing late the night before, and decided a bit of extra sleep was more important. Bad, bad Lynn.
