No Saturday Shot

Sorry, there won’t be a Saturday Shot this week. I’ve realized that if I write my little butt off, I can actually finish NaNoWriMo! At this very second, I’m at 42,753 words. Just over 7,000 words away from calling myself a winner. I’m hoping to get another 2,000 words in tonight. If I can do that, despite having to take my mother to the airport tomorrow, I’m fairly confident I could get the last 5,000 words in before midnight and call myself a NaNoWriMo winner. :writing:

Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I’ll return to regular posts on Monday.

Or tomorrow, if I finish my 50,000 words early enough. ;)

NaNoWriMo Day Two

word meter

We’re now on DAY TWO of NaNoWriMo, and I’ve completely changed my strategy. Originally, my plan was to write the story that had been bopping around in my head. To use NaNoWriMo as the vehicle to finally actually get the story written. I’d spent the last month putting together my outline and doing my research. And then DAY ONE came and I started to write.

Vacation’s Over!

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 8:31 pm

It’s the eve of the kids’ first day back to school. Am I excited? You betcha! This marks the beginning of my new year, and with the new year will come a new attitude, yadda yadda yadda.

I’ll talk more about it tomorrow — it’ll be a goals post. Declarative. I’ll talk about what I hope to accomplish. But that’s tomorrow.

In the meantime, here’s a Messed Up Tune for you.

I’ve Seen Glaciers Move Faster

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 5:45 am

Last night, SoundGuy and I watched the movie Invincible, based on the story of Philidelphia Eagles’ Vince Papale. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you do. Even if you’re not into football flicks. The story’s heartwarming, the acting’s great, and the soundtrack’s outstanding.

Seriously — it’s a Disney movie that opens with a Jim Croce tune. Need I say more? :bag: (Can ya tell I love Jim Croce?)

It’s a Record!

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at 10:03 am

Here it is, Christmas Eve, and my shopping’s been done for TWO WHOLE DAYS! It may not sound like a big deal to you, but for me, it’s a record. Is your shopping done? Are you ready for tomorrow?

Just in case you need something to take your mind off all the prep work this particular holiday requires, I give you this week’s Messed Up Tune.

Bustin’ Out

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:33 pm

Looks like you all knew the Messed Up Tune! It was indeed “Life is a Highway”. That’ll teach me to work up a Messed Up Tune while watching a Disney/Pixar flick.

Good grief…is it Christmas yet? I busted my butt today to try and get all the gifts wrapped before the kids got home from school — their last day before Winter Break. Now I’ve got a busted butt and unwrapped gifts. I did make progress, but not enough progress. I’m waiting for the kids to go to sleep so I can try and get that finished up tonight.

Silly Songs and Speed Bumps

by Lynn Daniels on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 10:35 pm

I ran into a speed bump with my holiday prep — LittleDude came down with Strep. *sigh* Luckily, he’s going back to school tomorrow and I’ll finally be able to finish my shopping. Good thing, too, the kids’ Winter Break starts Thursday, and my goal is to have everything done by then. Especially since for the first time, SoundGuy isn’t going to NC to pick up the stepkid.

In past years, he would go do that, take the kids with him, and I got that 24 hours to shop and wrap gifts. Talk about a pain in the back!
