No Saturday Shot
by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Sorry, there won’t be a Saturday Shot this week. I’ve realized that if I write my little butt off, I can actually finish NaNoWriMo! At this very second, I’m at 42,753 words. Just over 7,000 words away from calling myself a winner. I’m hoping to get another 2,000 words in tonight. If I can do that, despite having to take my mother to the airport tomorrow, I’m fairly confident I could get the last 5,000 words in before midnight and call myself a NaNoWriMo winner.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I’ll return to regular posts on Monday.
Or tomorrow, if I finish my 50,000 words early enough. ![]()
Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut

NaNoWriMo Day TwoWe’re now on DAY TWO of NaNoWriMo, and I’ve completely changed my strategy. Originally, my plan was to write the story that had been bopping around in my head. To use NaNoWriMo as the vehicle to finally actually get the story written. I’d spent the last month putting together my outline and doing my research. And then DAY ONE came and I started to write.

Bustin’ Out
by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:33 pm
Looks like you all knew the Messed Up Tune! It was indeed “Life is a Highway”. That’ll teach me to work up a Messed Up Tune while watching a Disney/Pixar flick.

Good grief…is it Christmas yet? I busted my butt today to try and get all the gifts wrapped before the kids got home from school — their last day before Winter Break. Now I’ve got a busted butt and unwrapped gifts. I did make progress, but not enough progress. I’m waiting for the kids to go to sleep so I can try and get that finished up tonight.
I’m Middle-Brained!

Is everybody else slammed too, or is it just me?
At least my shopping’s nearly done — early for me, believe it or not. Yes, sad, but true.
The good news is I haven’t injured myself in two weeks. Oh, wait. Scratch that. Last week, I tripped coming up the single step from my garage to my kitchen. Scraped my forearm on the door frame.
Ah, well. Injury-free woulda been nice.
The kids have kept me busy. MiniMe’s soccer team had a float in our county Christmas parade last week, and the girls all had a blast. LittleDude and I had a ball watching the parade from the sidewalk of our city’s historic downtown district. You know, once upon a time, I found parades boring if they didn’t hurl stuff at ya from the floats (a la Mardi Gras in New Orleans). Not this time. I guess seeing your own kid in the parade makes a difference.
I’ve managed to sneak in a little editing time, but not much. Nowhere near as much time as I’d like. My fingers are crossed that once the holiday passes and the kids are back in school I’ll find more time.
In the meantime, here’s a quiz for you. Hope you’re having a great week!

You Are 50% Left Brained, 50% Right Brained |
![]() The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning. Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others. If you’re left brained, you are likely good at math and logic. Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet. The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility. |
This week’s Messed Up Tune was “Cuts Like a Knife” by Bryan Adams.
The Wind and the Worms
by Lynn Daniels on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 12:01 am
Okay, first order of business, last week’s Messed Up Tune. Tanya and Heather had it goin’ on — last week’s tune was indeed Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind”.
Secondly, is anybody else having problems with this stupid Stration/Warezov worm? I’m not sure if I actually have it, but CBL now has my IP listed, supposedly because of this worm. Even worse, that CBL listing was preventing me from posting to the blog.
I swear, if it’s not one thing, it’s another.
I guess the rest of the evening will be spent researching this stoopid worm to see how I can find out if I actually have it.

I hate to do this to y’all. SoundGuy was home the past couple days, which means it was impossible for me to get on the computer. Which means — no blog posts. I had meant to get caught up today, but an old friend contacted me and asked me to run to Birmingham with her, so off we go!
The sitter will be here in about 45 minutes, and I still have a couple things to get done before I leave.
I promise — I’ll post something decent tomorrow. Hope you had a wonderful Halloween!
BTW — Heather got this week’s Messed Up Tune correct. “Disease” by Matchbox 20.
Friday Round Up

I know I promised you a wrap up of my night out with Tess … would you believe I just haven’t had time to blog? It might have something to do with the fact that my backyard now looks like one giant red clay mud puddle. SoundGuy’s trying to fix a drainage problem, and while I’m grateful it’s actually getting done, sweeping and mopping all that stupid red dirt from my kitchen floor every time SoundGuy, one of the kids, or one of the dogs comes in from the backyard is becoming tedious. Beyond tedious. And I’m doing it way too often.
Feelin’ Groovy

No guesses for yesterday’s Messed Up Tune?
Ah, well. I’ll give you the answer, anyway. It was “Lonesome Loser” by the Little River Band.
Guilt crisis from yesterday is over. It actually eased up quite a bit after a discussion with SoundGuy. In a nutshell, I was feeling kind of bad because SoundGuy’s truck broke down yesterday, and he was stranded at the side of the road 25 miles away from home with a storm approaching.
