What a Strange Way to Go
by Lynn Daniels on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Lately, I’ve started dragging a tote bag with me nearly everywhere I go. In it, I carry a few things to do, so if the need arises, I’m making myself useful instead of staring at the walls. Just some simple stuff: a current crochet project, a book to read, a notebook for the ms of the moment, my iPod, and sometimes a magazine. My bag comes in handy every day during the kids’ TKD lessons (I’ve been writing quite a bit!), and I was glad to have it while sitting in the waiting room during SoundGuy’s dentist appointment yesterday.
Anyway, I was sitting at MiniMe’s TKD lesson last night, and for some reason, I glanced down into my bag, quick-like. I just caught a glimpse of the spine of the book I have in there right now, and do you know what it told me?
It told me I was really really really hungry.
The book was Origin in Death by J.D. Robb. And I knew that was the book I had in there. But do you know what I saw when I glanced down?
I’d say my tummy was absolutely trying to tell me something, wouldn’t you agree?
No Objectification Here

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a huge difference in your day. Other times, it’s the offensive things.
Yesterday, it was a trip to the grocery store that boosted my spirit and made me smile. Why? Because as I pulled into the parking lot, some guy in a delivery truck whistled at me.
Leave it to Me

With all the doom and gloom I’ve been erratically posting lately, I thought I’d give you kind of a fun story today.
Okay, so the real reason I’m posting this is I finally got the pictures downloaded from my phone. But it’s still fun. Trust me.
Excuses Aplenty (But Not Really)

As far as writing days go, it’s not looking like it’s going to be a very good one. The kids returned to school today after their abbreviated Fall Break (abbreviated because they got a long summer this year). Halloween was last night. And we just got home yesterday from a mini-vaca to the North Georgia Mountains. Do you know what that means? Errand City, baby! Especially when you add:
Buggy-Boo

I don’t do bugs.
What I mean to say is I don’t do well with bugs. They freak me out, and I’ve been known to go a little nuts when they manage to get on me. My children find this amusing, and even Tess enjoyed once being treated to a demonstration of how I reacted when a beetle fell onto my head.
Digging into the Treasure Chest

I mentioned that I spent some time with Tess last Friday night. Of course, we always have fun, but this past Friday was a little different. No bar, no loud rock n’ roll, no really old guys trying to pick us up. The plan was to hang out in Tess’s living room and do a little brainstorming and writing stuff. So, like a good little girl, along with the snacks, I brought my SR binder (SR’s been giving me a bit of a fit. I think I know why, but I still need to figure out how to overcome it. *making notes to discuss this in a future post*).
But Friday night, for me, was A Night of Treasures.
But I DO Want it All

First, allow me to express my most sincere thanks for the concern and support you’ve shown me over the past week or so. It has helped me so much. I swear, it’s been like a demented funhouse roller coaster ride. I hate to use such a tired cliche (embellished as it may be), but it’s such the perfect descriptor.
First, the bad stuff happened. Then, a light appeared at the end of the tunnel, growing brighter as the week’s end approached. And then it was cruelly extinguished… until I found out there was a misunderstanding.
Huh. Light again!
Cavebound

Bad week.
Really really bad week.
I’m retreating to my cave and not poking my head back out until things brighten up again.
Hope your week’s going better than mine.
Rain, Wrecks & Running

I’ve been trying to get online all morning to post today’s blog entry. But now that most of the grocery shopping’s done, laundry’s in the washer & dryer, and tonight’s dinner’s in the Crockpot, I can finally sit down and type.
I’d actually planned for a different blog post today — one that was based on something I saw Friday. I might still post it this week, although it might have already lost it’s timeliness. We’ll see how I feel about it. Anyway, I’d actually planned something different until my weekend started. Then I knew it all had to change.
Finally

Open House today.
First day of school tomorrow.
Thank God.
