Lower Falls

We’re going back to our vacation this summer at Yellowstone National Park for today’s shot. This is the Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, one of the most photographed features in the park. I’ve posted these falls before, but that photo was from a different vantage point — I believe the same Ansel Adams’ famous picture was shot from.

Unfortunately, when we went this summer, that spot was closed (actually, one entire side of Canyon was closed), and the only viewing spot of the falls was from Artist Point, which is where this was shot from. It was kind of a good thing for us, since we hadn’t been to Artist Point on our previous trips.

I kept looking at this picture — in particular, the white on the left side of the falls. I kept thinking that was really odd looking water, and I wondered how the spray managed to do that. Until I looked closer and realized it was snow. Not on of my more stellar moments.

Blowin’ My Mind

Marked Trail

Marked Trail

I’ve had a lot of mind blowin’ lately. Could be my mental state. Could be the weather. Could also be that it’s just plain starting to go.

After my last post, we did a couple more days of hiking in different parks. We went to one that had a beautiful nature trail. A short nature trail. A well-marked nature trail. And still my daughter yelled, “We SUCK at following marked trails!” :sigh: Luckily, we caught that one early. Thank goodness for trails identified by color.

Note to Georgia State Parks: When the trail crosses a bridge, maybe your signage shouldn’t point to an entirely different trail!

Relief! Ahhh….

by Lynn Daniels on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 2:28 pm

You have no idea how nice it is for me to have all my stuff back! I can go upstairs and find my processed pictures, my writing, crochet patterns… It really is a relief. After a morning of running errands with SoundGuy, I’ve spent this afternoon moving Photoshop and running my hand across the hard drive with my recovered pictures. My pretty…

Two Sides of the Coin

by Lynn Daniels on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:49 pm

I’ll be getting back to vacation trip reports tomorrow, but I wanted to post a quick life update first.

First, the worst news. The hard drive I use for picture storage decided to give up the ghost yesterday. And it took all my pictures with it. Luckily, I do have my original files also stored on DVDs — kind of like photo negatives. I have negatives, but no finished pictures. SoundGuy says the drive is still under warranty, so he’ll be sending it off for repair, and hopefully file recovery.

Week in Review

by Lynn Daniels on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:05 am

But just the good stuff, I promise.

First, I have actually made headway with NaNoWriMo. Not as much as I’d like, but I did it. However, it does look like I’ll have to put it aside — and that I’ll explain later. At least I know I was capable.

Yesterday was a HUGE anniversary for me. A day known in my household as THE BIG DEAL. And one that makes SoundGuy turn to me every so often and blurt I’m so proud of you. Yesterday at 12:00pm, I was officially a non-smoker for 18 months.
